Worker retraining and transitions in a dynamic economy [Webinar]

"On May 25, AEI’s Brent Orrell led a panel discussion on how best to help workers transition to new careers. The event featured a presentation of a recent report by Harvard Kennedy School’s Rachel Lipson et al.

AEI’s Mason M. Bishop, Harvard University’s David Deming, Ms. Lipson, and Mr. Orrell compared American labor market policy to other countries’ policies, arguing it is too focused on trade and not focused enough on active labor market programs. Therefore, it misses the majority of workers who need help transitioning — those looking to upskill or who have lost jobs due to technological advancements. The panelists offered suggestions for short- and long-term reform."
